Letter, 1864 September 4.

The collection consists of a two page letter from Lyme Blowers in Salem (Center), Steuben County, Indiana, to his friend Thad[d]eus P. Jackson, a 1st lieutenant in Battery "A" of the 1st Indiana Artillery in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, 4 September 1864. The letter is generally personal in content but it does mention the draft taking place in the town that day and the concern for those who would be taken.

Lyman ("Lyme") Blowers resided in Turkey Creek and Salem Center, Steuben County, Indiana. In November 1861 he mustered in as a sergeant in Company "G" of the 44th Indiana Regiment. Blowers was discharged in January 1863 for disability. Thaddeus P. Jackson was from LaGrange, Indiana. In July 1861 he enlisted as a private in Battery "A" of the 1st Indiana Artillery.
