The 21st Indiana Infantry Regiment was organized in July 1861 in Indianapolis and saw duty in Baltimore and New Orleans. Lyman ("Lyme") Blowers resided in Turkey Creek and Salem Center, Steuben County, Indiana. In November 1861 he mustered in as a sergeant in Company "G" of the 44th Indiana Regiment. Blowers was discharged in January 1863 for disability. Thaddeus P. Jackson was from LaGrange, Indiana. In July 1861 he enlisted as a private in Battery "A" of the 1st Indiana Artillery.
